The meeting of “NDC 3.0 The Voice of Youth in the Preparation Process”, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and UNICEF Türkiye, was held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, President of the Directorate of Climate Change.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Department of Environmental Engineering graduate student and BEUN Climate Ambassador Erdem Kalkan participated in the meeting.

In the workshops, young people shared their opinions and ideas on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and the various aspects of climate change. It was forethought that the ideas shared by the young people would provide a new point of view on the climate policies and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0).

The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, commented on the event and stated:

“It is a source of pride for us that our youth has a say in the global climate crisis. The fact that our students contributed to the NDC 3.0 preparation process does not just contribute to our university but to the sustainable future vision of our country. As BEUN, we care about raising environmentally conscious, innovative, and solution-oriented individuals. The fact that our students participate in these platforms is a sign of the academic competence of our university on the topics related to the environment and climate.”
