BEUN Psychology Student, Akpolat, Awarded for Her Project That Shapes The Future

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) felt great pride at the 3rd Term Award Ceremony of the “Accessible and Connected Türkiye 2053 Inter-University R&D Idea Competition” organized by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. At the ceremony, attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Havvanur Akpolat, a senior student at the Department of Psychology, Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was deemed worthy of an award with her project titled “Nature-Compatible Autonomous Superconductive Transportation Vehicle.”

University rectors from all over the country, senior executives, academics, and students attended the ceremony hosted by the Minister of the Turkish Republic Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. 

Relating the success achieved in the transportation, communication, and defense industry in Türkiye to the innovative projects made by the youth, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the national technology move is strengthened by the visionary steps. By pointing out the significance of having young people as active stakeholders instead of being observers, Uraloğlu stated that they would continue to support the ideas of the new generation through inter-university Research and Development competitions and authentic events such as U-FEST. By expressing that U-Fest would be organized with different universities, including Zonguldak Ecevit University, he said such events both inspire the young people and take a leading role in building Türkiye’s digital and technological future.

315 students from 65 universities shed light on the future of Türkiye’s transportation, communication, and technology fields with 200 projects in total. 46 projects from 32 different universities were awarded, and the project of BEUN student Havvanur Akpolat was among the interesting projects.

In his talk following the ceremony, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, stated the following:

“I wholeheartedly congratulate our student Havvanur Akpolat, who was awarded in this meaningful competition. The fact that open-minded people can produce environmentally friendly, visionary, and sustainable ideas gives us hope for our science and technology journey in the Turkish Century. This success is a clear sign of the quality education we provide at our university, as well as the success of our students. It is a source of pride for us to support such projects that are shaped with the “Turkish Century” vision of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who always leads the way to such meaningful projects. I would also like to thank Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who introduced this platform with university students and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure family for their contributions, and Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of Council of Higher Education (CoHE), who aims to bring higher education to a stronger future, and the CoHE Family. Every single young person in our universities is the owner of strong ideas that will shape the future. We will continue to support them in order to help those ideas grow. I wholeheartedly congratulate our student Havvanur Akpolat and wish her success in her academic and scientific endeavors."
