Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) started another meaningful social responsibility Project. Blood donation mobilization, organized with an aim of 101 bags of blood, from 101 units, as a tribute to the 101st anniversary of the university, in cooperation with the Zonguldak Red Crescent, started in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Both students and academic and administrative staff paid great interest in the campaign that will continue till the end of October. A powerbank is given as a present to the blood donors, and three saplings will be planted in their names. In this respect, this campaign not only saves lives but also benefits nature.
Rector Özölçer: “A donation means a lifetime of life”
Meeting with students, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, emphasized that blood donation is not just a responsibility but is significant in terms of the environment, and added:
“One of the first universities of the Republic of Türkiye, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, continues to create exemplary projects on social responsibility and environmental consciousness. “Life in the Campus Veins” campaign is a reflection of the vision of the university. We set off with an aim of 101 bags of blood from each unit, special for our 101st anniversary. This number is not just an aim but a call for solidarity and seçal self-responsibility. I thank all our blood donors who act on the belief that one drop of blood can save a life. I would also like to thank particularly the Chairperson of Turkish Red Crescent, Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, and all Turkish Red Crescent family and Zonguldak Province Directorate of Turkish Red Crescent, volunteer students, academic and administrative staff, and all my colleagues who contributed to the organization of this Project.
Great Interest from Students
On its first day, the campaign began with great participation, and the students who donated blood stated that the event was not only meaningful but also a great source of pride. In addition to symbolic gifts such as a power bank and a tree planted in their names, they emphasized that the spiritual value of contributing to society is above all else. This strong cooperation between BEUN and the Turkish Red Crescent Zonguldak Branch contributes to the development of social responsibility awareness and aims to raise awareness of the nationwide need for blood.
