In line with its patient-centered healthcare approach, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has reopened the Oncology Day Treatment Unit operating within BEUN Hospital with its modern and comfortable structure following comprehensive renovation works.
The opening ceremony held at the İbni Sina Campus was attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu and Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, BEUN Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Burak Bahadır, members of the Senate, and academic and administrative staff.
A Modern Treatment Environment Prioritizing Patient Comfort
Within the scope of the works carried out with the understanding that it is also of great importance for patients to go through their treatment processes in a peaceful, safe, and comfortable environment, the physical infrastructure of the unit was completely renovated. All areas, from chemotherapy chairs to patient waiting areas, were rearranged in accordance with modern healthcare standards, creating a more functional and ergonomic treatment environment for both patients and healthcare professionals. The Oncology Day Treatment Unit, which has a capacity of 30 chemotherapy chairs, provides services to an average of 50 to 70 patients per day. Treatment processes are meticulously carried out by specialist physicians and experienced oncology nurses.
The University’s Production Capacity Reflected in Healthcare Services
Within the scope of the renovation works, all furniture used in the unit was produced by the BEUN Wood Culture Application and Research Center. Thanks to this furniture, prepared with the university’s own resources, the unit has gained a more modern, functional, and comfortable appearance.

Commenting on the matter, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated:
“Our University Hospital is an important healthcare center that serves not only Zonguldak but the entire Western Black Sea Region, with its approach that continuously raises the quality of healthcare services and places people at the center. With the renovation work we carried out in our Oncology Day Treatment Unit, we aimed to ensure that our patients undergoing cancer treatment can go through their challenging treatment processes in a more comfortable, safe, and peaceful environment. One of the most meaningful aspects of this work is that all the furniture used in our unit was produced at our University’s Wood Culture Application and Research Center. Thus, we are pleased to reflect our university’s production capacity in the quality of our healthcare services and to provide our patients with a higher-quality treatment environment.
I sincerely thank the entire administration of our hospital, our academic and administrative staff, our healthcare professionals, our Wood Culture Application and Research Center, and everyone who contributed to this valuable work.
