Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has achieved another success in the field of scientific research and projects. The project titled “Digitization and Comparative Analysis of Archaeological and Philological Data within the Framework of Hittite Text Context,” in which Assoc. Prof. F. Gülden Ekmen, an academic member of the Department of Archaeology at the BEUN Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, serves as a researcher, has been awarded support within the scope of the 2026 1st Call Period of the TÜBİTAK 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.

The project, supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1001 Program, aims to contribute to the strengthening of qualified scientific studies conducted in the fields of Ancient Languages, Hittitology, and Near Eastern Archaeology.

Interdisciplinary Scientific Collaboration with TÜBİTAK 1001 Support

Prof. Dr. Özlem Sir Gavaz from Ankara University serves as the project coordinator, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. F. Gülden Ekmen, an academic member of the Department of Archaeology at the BEUN Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, serves as a researcher. In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülgüney Masalcı Şahin from Ankara University and Asst. Prof. Dr.  Semih Yaşar Çizikci from Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University are also involved in the project team as researchers. Furthermore, three graduate scholarship holders who will take part in the project will contribute to the scientific studies to be carried out.

BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer made the following statements regarding the subject:

“It is a great source of pride for us that our university academics actively take part in qualified scientific research conducted at national and international levels and that these studies are supported by TÜBİTAK, one of the most respected scientific support organizations in our country. The fact that this valuable project, in which Assoc. Prof. F. Gülden Ekmen, one of our Department of Archaeology academics, serves as a researcher, has been entitled to receive support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1001 Program is an important indicator of our University’s research-oriented development vision and strong academic accumulation. I sincerely believe that this interdisciplinary study to be conducted in the fields of Hittitology, Ancient Languages, and Near Eastern Archaeology will produce significant outcomes in terms of integrating digital technologies into scientific research and will make valuable contributions to our country’s scientific literature.
