BEUN Faculty of Sport Sciences Student Vandemir Wins Bronze at the European Championship

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), Faculty of Sport Sciences student and national athlete Hatice Vandemir achieved a great success at the U23 European Judo Championships, held in Chişinău, the capital of Moldova, between October 31 and November 2, 2025. Competing in the women's 70 kg category, the accomplished athlete outperformed her opponents to claim third place in Europe and won the bronze medal.

Following the third-place success of the Faculty of Sport Sciences student, Hatice Vandemir, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Universityü, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, expressed his pride and happiness, saying:

"As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we see sport not as a physical activity but a lifestyle that requires discipline, determination, team spirit, and perseverance. Our valuable student made our city and us proud with her performance at the U23 European Judo Championship. Our university contributes to our students’ success in such international competitions with its well-established and experienced academic staff in every sports field, strong physical infrastructure, and qualified education programs. In this context, the Faculty of Sport Sciences at our university is a significant career center for young talents.

With these thoughts and feelings, I would like to express my gratitude to our Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, who supports the young athletes in our country, and the family of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the YÖK family.

I wholeheartedly congratulate our valuable student Hatice Vandemir, who won the bronze medal and placed third in Europe, and wish her continued success. I also thank the esteemed faculty members and coaches of our Faculty of Sport Sciences for their dedication and contributions. I firmly believe that the achievements of our students will make a significant contribution to our university’s national and international recognition, and I sincerely thank them for their continued success.”
