BEUN Continues Its Rise in the URAP World University Rankings

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has achieved another significant success in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2025–2026 World University Rankings, one of the world’s respected higher education ranking systems. Ranked 2,305th in the world in the 2023–2024 period, BEUN rose 91 places to 2,214th in the 2025–2026 period, while also ranking 71st among the 128 universities from Türkiye included in the evaluation.

Steady Rise in Scientific Productivity

The World University Ranking, prepared by the URAP Research Laboratory operating within the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University (METU), is among the internationally respected ranking systems that evaluate universities based on objective scientific criteria such as the number of articles, scientific document production, citation performance, publication impact, international collaborations, and academic productivity.
In this comprehensive evaluation based on research performance, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has continued to increase its scientific output, research infrastructure, number of high-quality publications, and international academic visibility in recent years.

91-Place Rise in the World Ranking

For the 2025–2026 World Ranking, 3,500 higher education institutions producing the highest number of scientific publications worldwide were examined. The top 3,000 universities with the highest performance among these institutions were included in the ranking. According to the URAP 2023–2024 World University Rankings, BEUN ranked 2,305th. It rose to 2,236th in the 2024–2025 period and reached 2,214th in the 2025–2026 period, maintaining its upward momentum. Thus, BEUN demonstrated that it has continued its steady development over three evaluation periods, further strengthening its scientific production capacity, research performance, and international academic visibility each year. BEUN also ranked 71st among the 128 higher education institutions from Türkiye included in the ranking.

Evaluating the results of the URAP 2025–2026 World University Rankings, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer said:

“Rising by 91 places in just two years in the URAP World University Rankings, one of the world’s respected academic ranking systems, is a concrete indication that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University is advancing its scientific production capacity, research culture, and academic quality day by day. Our University continues its efforts with determination, guided by the vision of being a higher education institution that strengthens its research infrastructure, encourages high-quality scientific publications, increases national and international academic collaborations, and produces knowledge.

Indeed, every new achievement we attain not only increases our University’s international visibility but also makes significant contributions to our country’s competitiveness in the field of higher education. With these thoughts, I would like to express my gratitude to our President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the Council of Higher Education family for their continued support in achieving this important success.
