Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) teams achieved a remarkable success by winning the championship with their outstanding performance during the UNILIG Badminton Regional League competitions, organized by yhe Türkiye Unievrsity Sports Federation (TÜSF).

Held between April 8-13, 2026, and hosted by İnönü University, the tournament featured intense competition with the participation of 105 male and 100 female athletes from 27 universities. Competing at the İnönü University Sports Hall, BEUN teams stood out throughout the with their disciplined, determined, and resilient performances. Demonstrating superiority against strong opponents, the BEUN Badminton Team delivered an exceptional performance in all matches and finished the tournament as champions. Their on-court harmony, fighting spirit, and technical skills once again carried BEUN to the top in university sports.

Rector Özölçer: “This Championship Is the Finest Result of Determination and Discipline”

In his remarks, BEUN Rector İsmail Hakkı Özölçer expressed his great satisfaction with the achievement and added:

“I wholeheartedly congratulate our Badminton Team who represented our univesrity in such a significant organization as a campion. The championship is a reflection of disciplined work, determination, and strong team spirit. The team’s performance throughout the tournament was a great source of pride. We are committed to supporting students’ athletic development. I believe that this success is a promising sign of even greater achievements of the future.

I extend my gratitude to Osman Aşkın Bak, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Erol Özvar, and the Council of Higher Education Türkiye for their continuous support of student-athletes. I would also like to thank the President of TÜSF and the Rector of Bayburt University Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen for his contributions to the organization, and the Rector of İnönü University Prof. Dr. Nusret Akpolat along with the university community for their successful hosting of the event.
