The event titled “Mevlana Commemoration Ceremony on the 752nd Anniversary of Seb-i Arus” was held with great participation at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN). The audience had emotional moments in the program held at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center on Farabi Campus.
The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer and his wife Mrs. Seran Özölçer, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Mehmet Türkmen Köse and his wife Merve Köse, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Taner Dursun, Provincial Director of National Education Uygar Keskin, Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Metin Vural, senate members, academics, students, and many citizens attended the program.
Rector Özölçer: “The Wisdom of Mevlana Rumi Has Guided Humanity for Centuries”
The ceremony began with the opening speech of the Rector of BEUN, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer. Highlighting the idea of love, patience, tolerance, and hope, Rector Özölçer stated that the words of Mevlana Rumi are a universal heritage of wisdom that illuminates the hearts. Emphasizing that Mevlana Rumi’s idea of reunion is not about separation but a union with the divine love, Rector Özölçer stated that these deep teachings continue to guide humanity even today.
Reminding the words “The one who is after love, isn’t burdened by his own” of Mevlana Rumi’s, Rector Prof. Dr. Özölçer stated that understanding Mevlana Rumi’s wisdom is only possible through the heart. Saying “The one who doesn’t open his heart to Hz. Pir cannot partake of his words that transcend the ages”, Rector Özölçer stated that Mevlana Rumi taught patience and submission through the words “All things await for their time-no rose blooms early, no sun rises before its moment”.
As part of the commemoration ceremony, a musical concert, including elegant works of Turkish Sufi music was performed by Dildade Turkish Music Community. Following the performance, the sama was performed by whirling dervishes from Galata Mevlevihane. Moving the hearts of the audience, the sama ceremony was greatly appreciated by the audience.
