
AK Party Zonguldak Member of Parliament Saffet Bozkurt received the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, at his office in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM).
During the meeting, which was also attended by BEUN Hospital Chief Physician Burak Bahadır, comprehensive evaluations were made regarding the academic achievements of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University in higher education, the national and international collaborations it has established, and the quality-oriented studies carried out at the university. It was emphasized that universities are not only institutions that provide education and academic knowledge, but also play a significant role in the social, cultural, and economic development of the cities in which they are located.
Expressing his gratitude to Deputy Saffet Bozkurt for his kind hospitality, Rector İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has made significant progress not only in academic achievements but also in the fields of internationalization, research and development activities, and social contribution. Providing information about the ongoing activities at the university, Özölçer noted that BEUN carries out important projects in social, cultural, scientific, and sporting fields through strong collaborations with public institutions, the private sector, and local stakeholders, in addition to its academic studies within the higher education community. He also emphasized that supporting students to grow as multi-faceted individuals alongside their academic development is among the university’s primary priorities.
Referring to the university’s projects contributing to regional development, Özölçer stated that strong communication and cooperation among public institutions are of great importance for scientific development. At the end of his remarks, Rector Özölçer expressed his appreciation to AK Party Zonguldak Deputy Saffet Bozkurt for his continuous support and close interest in the activities and development of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, AK Party Zonguldak Deputy Saffet Bozkurt stated that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has demonstrated remarkable development through its academic achievements, research activities, and socially oriented initiatives both nationally and internationally. He emphasized that the strong bond the university has established with the city is of great value for the development of Zonguldak. Bozkurt also highlighted that the university contributes significantly to the city’s development and its national and international visibility through its activities in social, cultural, artistic, and sporting fields, in addition to its scientific production.
Deputy Bozkurt further noted that the university’s work in areas such as technology development, sustainability initiatives, and social contribution adds value to Zonguldak’s development process. He congratulated the entire BEUN community—particularly Rector İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, the academic and administrative staff, and the students—and wished them continued success.
A Book Highlighting BEUN’s Achievements Between 2022–2025 Was Presented
As part of the visit, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, presented a copy of the book titled "Bir Asırlık Birikim, Yeni Bir Vizyon: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi" (A Century of Experience, A New Vision: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University) to Saffet Bozkurt, AK Party Zonguldak Member of Parliament. The book highlights the university’s academic achievements between 2022 and 2025, including its national and international collaborations, the achievements obtained in scientific, cultural, artistic, and sporting fields, the visionary projects contributing to social awareness, and the significant progress recorded in institutional accreditation processes.
The visit concluded with the exchange of mutual good wishes and the taking of a commemorative photograph.
