The 2025–2026 Academic Board Meeting of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School was held.
The meeting, held at the Gökçebey Campus, was attended by the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer; the Director of Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School, Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdal Kara; vice directors; and academic staff.
Academic and Administrative Activities of BEUN Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School Were Discussed
At the opening of the meeting, Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdal Kara delivered a general presentation on the activities carried out during the 2024–2025 Academic Year. In his presentation, Dr. Kara provided detailed information on the activities planned for the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the new academic year plan, the numbers of academic and administrative staff and students, as well as the completed and ongoing scientific and social projects and academic studies conducted at the vocational school. He also shared information on the academic projects they aim to implement and the social, cultural, and community-oriented activities planned for students. Concluding his remarks, Dr. Kara expressed his gratitude to the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, for his continuous support for the development of Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School.
Following the presentations, the 2025–2026 Academic Meeting of Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School continued with the presentation of certificates of appreciation by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer to academics who stood out with their scientific publications in national and international indexes.
Rector Özölçer: “We will continue a higher education approach that supports academic success with social contribution and volunteerism.”
After the certificate ceremony, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer delivered a general evaluation of the 2024–2025 Academic Year. Rector Özölçer stated that Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School had undertaken significant work with a strong higher education approach emphasizing academic, social, and community contribution.
In his speech, Rector Özölçer emphasized that eight different projects carried out during the 2024–2025 academic year within the scope of the Social Responsibility Project, Volunteer Studies, and the Fight Against Addiction courses were a concrete reflection of the university’s vision of integration with society. He noted, “These projects, which involved approximately 450 participants, have made significant contributions to the development of our students not only as professionally competent individuals but also as individuals with a high sense of social responsibility.”
Drawing attention to the importance of the projects implemented by Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School in terms of raising social awareness, Rector Özölçer stated, “These projects are among the finest examples of the strong bond our university has established with the region and of a university approach that touches society.”
Also sharing his evaluations regarding the 2025–2026 Academic Year, Rector Özölçer emphasized that qualified education, an application-oriented academic structure, and social responsibility-based projects would be sustained and expanded in the new period, stating, “We will continue a higher education approach that supports academic success with social contribution and volunteerism.”
At the end of his speech, Rector Özölçer thanked the academic and administrative staff for their devoted efforts and expressed his belief that Gökçebey Mithat-Mehmet Çanakcı Vocational School would continue to contribute increasing value to the university and the region in the coming period.
