
An Academic Board Meeting focusing on planning and evaluations for the 2025–2026 Academic Year was held at the Faculty of Sport Sciences of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN).
The meeting took place at the Faculty of Sport Sciences on Farabi Campus and was attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Prof. Dr. Hakan Çelik, vice deans, and academic staff.
Academic and Administrative Activities Evaluated from Multiple Perspectives
In the opening speech, Dean Prof. Dr. Hakan Çelik delivered a comprehensive presentation on the activities carried out within the faculty during the 2024–2025 Academic Year. He shared detailed information on planned initiatives and goals for the 2025–2026 Academic Year, academic and administrative staff and student numbers, as well as completed and ongoing scientific, sportive, and social projects. Prof. Dr. Çelik also addressed planned academic projects and cultural and social activities for students, concluding his presentation by expressing his gratitude to BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for his continued support for the development of the faculty.
Certificates of Appreciation Presented to Successful Academics
Following the presentation, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer presented certificates of appreciation to academics who stood out with their scientific publications in national and international indexed journals.
Rector Özölçer: “The Faculty of Sport Sciences Adds Value to Our University’s Academic Strength”
After the certificate ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer made a general evaluation of the 2024–2025 Academic Year and wished the 2025–2026 Spring Semester to be beneficial for the university community. Emphasizing that the Faculty of Sport Sciences contributes significantly to the university’s scientific strength and vision in sports through its qualified education, research, and applied studies, Rector Özölçer underlined BEUN’s determination to continuously strengthen its academic structure. He recalled that the establishment of the Faculty of Sport Sciences was decided with the Presidential Decree dated July 1, 2025 and numbered 32943, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette on the same date. Rector Özölçer stated that both the establishment of the faculty and BEUN’s achievement of 4th place in Türkiye within the scope of the Sports-Friendly Campus Project represent significant gains for the university and for Zonguldak. In his remarks, Rector Özölçer said:
“Our university continues to strengthen its academic structure day by day with the aim of being a pioneering institution in the fields of education, health, engineering, and sports. In this respect, the establishment of the Faculty of Sport Sciences is an extremely valuable step in our development process. With our strong academic staff, modern infrastructure, and students who have achieved remarkable success at national and international levels, I sincerely believe that our Faculty of Sport Sciences will assume a leading role in this field.”
Rector Özölçer noted that the faculty will contribute to students’ physical, mental, and social development while hosting research that places the scientific dimension of sports at its center. He added that the faculty is expected to become a center of attraction not only for the Western Black Sea Region but also for students from across Türkiye and abroad, and to make meaningful contributions to Turkish sports. Highlighting the national, European, and international championships and degrees achieved by faculty students and athletes, as well as TÜBİTAK-supported projects conducted by academics, Rector Özölçer stated that these accomplishments are a great source of pride for the university.
Concluding his speech, Rector Özölçer thanked all academic and administrative staff who contribute to the development of the faculty through their academic work, sportive achievements, and social contributions, and wished them continued success.
