Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, visited Bahaddin Arı, President of Karaelmas Journalists Association, and executive board members. The potential cooperation between the local media and BEUN was reviewed during the meeting. President Arı and Executive Board members Fadime Yılmaz Elma, Freelance Reporter for Şafak and Anadolu Agency, Selçuk Koçaklı, Reporter from Halkın Sesi, Onur Altındağ, Reporter from İhlas News Agency, Okan Ummak, Reporter from A News Agency, Gökhan Yılmaz, Reporter from Anadolu Agency, Öznur Güneş, and Duygu Elma Özfidan, Reporters from Pusula, hosted Prof. Dr. Özölçer.

Upon the visit, Prof. Dr. Özölçer pointed out that universities are not just responsible for the education but also the development of the community and added:

“We prioritize to support the development of Zonguldak, the capital of industry and energy in the scientific, social, cultural, arts, and sports areas, with our long-standing history and innovative vision. As academics, we care about the progress in Zonguldak. In this context, cooperation with the distinguished media institutions is significant for the science, knowledge, and accurate news to reach the public. We care about the projects Karaelmas Journalists Association has to offer and I would like to state that we would appreciate the collaboration with our units including Faculty of Communication. I wish the continuation of the cooperation with the valuable representatives of our local media, and thank every member of the board.”

President Arı thanked Rector Özölçer for his kind visit and stated that the mutual projects with the university would be beneficial both for the students and for the local media. He added:

“The Rector honored us with his kind visit. We believe the ties between the university and the media would contribute to the experience of young communications professionals and the development of Zonguldak in this respect. I hope this cooperation will result in various beneficial projects.”

The visit ended with mutual expressions of goodwill and a commemorative photo.
