
Karadeniz Ereğli District Governor Fatih Yılmaz paid a visit to the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, in his office. During the visit, Rector Özölçer and District Governor Yılmaz discussed university–city cooperation, higher education activities, and initiatives held in Karadeniz Ereğli.
BEUN’s Achievements and Activities Presented
As part of the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer provided information to District Governor Yılmaz about the academic, scientific, and social activities carried out at the Ereğli Faculty of Education, Karadeniz Ereğli Vocational School, and the Faculty of Maritime located in Karadeniz Ereğli. It was emphasized that these units serve not only as educational institutions but also as important centers contributing to the social and economic development of the region.
Rector Özölçer stated that, with its deep-rooted history and strong academic structure, the university provides high-quality education to its students while also playing a significant role in the regions where it operates through community-oriented projects.
Rector Özölçer: “With Our New Campus in Ereğli, We Will Achieve a Much Stronger Structure”
In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer highlighted the university’s activities in Karadeniz Ereğli and stated:
“As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, drawing strength from our long-standing history, we attach great importance not only to our central campus but also to maintaining a strong academic structure in our districts. Karadeniz Ereğli holds a highly significant position for our university, and through our Faculty of Education, Karadeniz Ereğli Vocational School, and Faculty of Maritime, we carry out important academic and scientific activities.
Our work on the new campus we are constructing in Ereğli continues uninterrupted. Once this investment is completed, our university will attain a much stronger, more integrated, and higher-quality campus structure in Ereğli. In this process, we also continue our efforts with determination to increase our visibility so that more students will prefer our well-established university.
The kind visit of our esteemed District Governor and his close interest in our university are extremely valuable to us. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for his support. We will continue to implement projects that add value to our region by further strengthening university–public sector cooperation.”
District Governor Yılmaz: “Our University Makes Significant Contributions to the Development of Our District”
District Governor of Karadeniz Ereğli, Fatih Yılmaz, expressed his satisfaction with the university’s activities in Ereğli, stating:
“Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, makes significant contributions to the educational, social, and economic development of Karadeniz Ereğli with its academic experience and visionary initiatives. The work carried out by our faculties and vocational schools in the district not only enables our youth to receive high-quality education but also adds value to the development of the region.
The ongoing new campus project is particularly important for Ereğli and, once completed, will greatly strengthen the district’s educational infrastructure. In this context, I would like to extend my thanks to our Rector, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, for his valuable contributions to our university. I also congratulate all academic and administrative staff and our dear students for their achievements and wish them continued success.”
Publication on BEUN’s Activities Presented to District Governor Yılmaz
As part of the visit, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, presented a copy of the book titled "Bir Asırlık Birikim, Yeni Bir Vizyon: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi" (A Century of Experience, A New Vision: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University) to Fatih Yılmaz. The book highlights the university’s academic achievements between 2022 and 2025, including its national and international collaborations, accomplishments in scientific, cultural, artistic, and sporting fields, visionary projects contributing to social awareness, and significant progress made in institutional accreditation processes.
The visit concluded with the exchange of good wishes and a commemorative photograph.
