
The Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer received Bartoın Governor Nurtaç Arslan, in his office. During the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer informed Governor Nurtaç Arslan on various topics from higher education to regional development.
The Achievements and Institutional Development of BEUN Were Discussed
During the visit, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer informed Governor Arslan on the well-established institution, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Univeristy’s success among higher education institutions, collaborations with industry and public institutions, and quality-focused initiatives in higher education. It was emphasized that universities have a significant role in the social, cultural, and financial development of the cities they are in as well as education and scientific production.
Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer also talked about BEUN’s academic success and improvement in the fields of internationalization and research and development as well as its initiatives. Emphasizing that BEUN created significant projects in the social, cultural, scientific and sporting fields thanks to the collaborations with public institutions, private sector and local stakeholders, Özölçer stated that it is among University’s priorities to support students’ multifaceted development.

Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following during the visit:
“As Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, we move towards the future with strong steps with the strength we get from our history. We continue with our efforts with determination to increase our academic success and international visibility and to get more students choose our university. In this respect, we continuously improve our science production capacity as well as social and cultural activities. Universities are not just educational institutions; they are also knowledge centers that lead the region. In this respect, we aim to initiate new projects in cooperation with all stakeholders including Zonguldak, Bartın, and Karabük. We prioritize all initiatives that support regional development, produce social benefit, and add value to the future of the youth. The presence of the esteemed Governor and their close interest in our university is extremely important. I would like to extend my gratitude.

University’s initiatives in the fields of technology development, sustainable activities, and social contributions add value to local development. Arslan congratulated particularly the Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for the successful initiatives, as well as the academic and administrative staff and the students, and wished them continuous success.
As part of the visit, the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, presented a copy of the book titled "Bir Asırlık Birikim, Yeni Bir Vizyon: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi" (A Century of Experience, A New Vision: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University) to Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan. The book highlights the university’s academic achievements between 2022 and 2025, including its national and international collaborations, accomplishments in scientific, cultural, artistic, and sporting fields, visionary projects contributing to social awareness, and significant progress made in institutional accreditation processes.
