Rector Özölçer: We Have the Health Life Culture in All Parts of the University”
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Rector İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated in his remarks regarding the issue that the University places great importance not only on academic excellence but also on institutionalizing a culture of healthy living:
“Universities are not merely higher education institutions that prepare students for their professional careers by providing academic knowledge; they are also responsible for building healthy, conscious, and exemplary living environments. The recognition of our campuses with the title ‘Nutrition-Friendly and Physical Activity-Supporting Workplace’ is a tangible and valuable reflection of this vision that we have embraced. We adopt an approach that prioritizes the physical and mental well-being of our staff and students. Through our practices that promote healthy nutrition, the facilities that encourage physical activity, and our awareness initiatives, we aim to transform our campuses into more qualified and conscious living spaces. We firmly believe that healthy individuals build strong institutions, and strong institutions build a strong society.
With these thoughts and sentiments, I would like to extend my gratitude, first and foremost, to our Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, and to the esteemed Ministry of Health family for their valuable support of the program. I also sincerely thank the Provincial Director of Health of Zonguldak, Mustafa Özkan Gün, the respected officials of the Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Health, and the evaluation committee for their meticulous efforts throughout the process.
Furthermore, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the distinguished administrators of our campuses, our academic and administrative staff, and our dear students who contributed to this process with great dedication and sensitivity. We will continue to further develop and expand our healthy campus practices and sustain our efforts in this field with increasing determination.”
