Rector Özölçer: “Our Libraries Are Centers of Wisdom Where the Future Is Built in the Light of Knowledge”
Making remarks as part of the opening ceremony, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer emphasized that the completed works are a strong reflection of the university’s educational vision and stated:
“Today, we are not only celebrating a physical renovation; we are also experiencing the happiness of realizing a significant transformation that facilitates access to knowledge, supports the academic development of our students, and adds value to our university’s journey in science. Our libraries are not merely places where books are housed; they are distinguished centers of wisdom where ideas are cultivated, production takes place, and the future is built. With modern seating areas and the strengthened technological infrastructure, we aim to provide our students with a more comfortable, efficient, and contemporary study environment. In this respect, our libraries are among our most valuable assets in preparing our youth for their professional lives and guiding them to become well-equipped individuals.”
Rector Özölçer: “We Continuously Improve Our Libraries in Line with the Needs of Our Students and Academics”
Continuing his speech, Rector Özölçer highlighted the significance of these investments and stated:
“In recent days, during the meaningful occasion of Library Week, we had the pride of bringing the Offshore Technologies Center Library to our Çaycuma Campus in collaboration with Subsea7. Today, at our largest library, Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay Library, we are pleased to present new seating areas for our students and to inaugurate a memorial corner dedicated to our esteemed professor Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay, who served our university for many years, educated numerous students, and held important positions such as membership in the Council of Higher Education.
It is extremely valuable for us that the students who choose our university have the opportunity to closely learn about such distinguished scholars and draw inspiration from their academic legacy. I believe that our libraries will not only be places where students study, but also living spaces where they strengthen friendships, collaborate, and shape their futures. Every moment spent here will add value to their academic journey and leave lasting impressions on their lives.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our Head of Library and Documentation Department Osman Demir, as well as to the entire library management, and to our academic and administrative staff who contributed to the realization of this meaningful work. I wish our renovated library to be beneficial for our university and our students, and I extend my best wishes for outstanding success to all our students in their higher education journey.”
Following the speech of Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, the program continued with the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterwards, participants toured the library and had the opportunity to examine the completed works on site. The program concluded with a commemorative photo session.
