“We are proud and happy to open the Offshore Technologies Center Library in cooperation with BEUN and Subsea7. It is meaningful to introduce such a valuable work to our university and Zonguldak, during the “Library Week”. I believe this library will be a life area which will give them an opportunity to bond and lead their future as well as being a place to study. The time they spend here will add value to their academic journey and leave them with unforgettable memories. The library, on a 144 square meter land, has more than 1500 printed resources offered to the students. The center with RFID infrastructure, developed automation system, catalogue scanning, and self-check systems, provides users with a fast, practical, and modern experience. The campus users will have access to the rich electronic resources from anywhere anytime.

I wholeheartedly thank all stakeholders particularly Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, who contributed to this project, all my colleagues, and Subsea7 community, which I am proud to be a part of. I hope this landmark will be beneficial for Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University and people of Zonguldak.

Rector Özölçer: “We Open the Doors of the Legacy We Leave for the Future, not just a Library”

Following Subsea7 Türkiye General Manager Hülya Özgür, BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated the following in his speech:

“I am glad to be here with you today in such a meaningful time. As our ancestors say” A place is measured with the people who make it meaningful being there.” Today this library is meaningful thanks to the valuable colleagues, students, and you esteemed guests who add value to this day. We not only open the doors of a library but offer knowledge to our students during this Library Week. We enlighten the honorable road of our students with science. Our ancestors valued places filled with books more than precious treasures and considered libraries as a knowledge garden. That is why libraries are not merely places with books. They are also unique knowledge sources which brings conscience and truth together. This valuable landmark is a strong legacy for the future. Each book to be read here, each research to be made, each idea to be produced will be carried out to the future as “a pleasant voice” as Baki stated.

I express my gratitude to Subsea7 Türkiye General Manager Hülya Özgüri and Subsea community for their support. IO hope this library will be beneficial to our university, city, and country. I wish all our students success in their academic lives.”
Following the speeches Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer presented the Subsea7 management team a plaque. The program continued with the ribbon cutting ceremony and attendees examined the work on site.
