The 2026-2027 Academic Year Orientation Program at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) was held with the opening speech of Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy, broadcast live from all campuses.
Orientation Program Followed Simultaneously at All Campuses
BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy, university administration, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the program held at Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center.
The program, which attracted wide participation, was also followed simultaneously via live broadcast by thousands of students taking their first steps into university life at Tahir Karauğuz and Doç. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Halls at Farabi Campus, as well as Alaplı, Çaycuma, Devrek, Doruk, Kepez and İbni Sina Campuses and Zonguldak Vocational School.
The program started with a moment of silence in memory of our heroic martyrs and the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem, and continued with a video introducing BEUN’s campuses and academic and administrative units.
Rector Ulusoy: “This Is a School of Knowledge and Wisdom”
Following the promotional video, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ulusoy took the podium to deliver the opening speech of the orientation program. Beginning his speech by greeting the students, Rector Ulusoy said:
“Dear young people; today, you are not only entering through the doors of a university, but also crossing one of the most important thresholds of your lives and embarking on a new journey. Universities are schools of knowledge and wisdom where you will discover yourselves, make sense of the world, and decide what kind of person you want to be. You are beginning this journey in Zonguldak, the city of labor and hard work. Studying at a university in this city without understanding the spirit of Zonguldak means missing an important truth. Because in the memory of this city, there is labor as much as coal and honor as much as hard work.”
Rector Ulusoy: “Knowledge Is the Most Strategic Power That Transcends Borders”
Referring to the rapidly changing technological structure of the world in his speech, Rector Ulusoy stated that developments in many fields, from artificial intelligence to biotechnology, from energy transformation to chip technologies, and from the defense industry to cybersecurity, are shaping the world of the future, and said to the young people:
“In our age, knowledge is the most strategic power that transcends borders. Learn different languages that are important today. Improve your digital competence and come to class prepared. Try to absorb what your professor teaches in the best way possible. Review after class. Research the points you do not understand. Read articles. Get to know the fundamental works in your field. Take notes. Because a good university student is not only a student who works hard, but also one who makes their work disciplined and systematic. Great achievements are the result of ‘small but continuous’ efforts. Allah helps those who work, make an effort and pursue knowledge. May your path be open and may your success be lasting. Welcome to our university.”
Rector Ulusoy Met with Students for Lunch
Following the opening speech, the 2026-2027 Academic Year Orientation Video was watched. After the video presentation, the program was completed with a commemorative photo.
Following the program, Rector Ulusoy went to the student cafeteria and met with the students for lunch. Chatting with the students, Rector Ulusoy wished all students health, peace and success throughout the 2026-2027 Academic Year.
