
Continuing its activities aimed at raising social awareness, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) hosted another meaningful event addressing the relationship between art and society as part of its ‘Science Café’ meetings. Organized by the BEUN Science Communication Office, the talk titled ‘Art, Society and the Stage,’ featuring theatre artist Ahmet Yenilmez as a guest, was held with the participation of the public.
During the event conducted by the BEUN Science Communication Office established under the leadership of BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, in line with the decisions and incentives of the Council of Higher Education, theatre artist Ahmet Yenilmez came together with the art lovers. The program titled “Art, Society, and the Stage”, which was held at Demirpark Mall and moderated by the Head of BEUN Science Communication Office Asst. Prof. Dr. Melek Toparlak Şahin, hosted Ahmet Yenilmez who shared his art journey and knowledge with the audience.
Talking about his own experience in theatre and art, Yenilmez stated that being in significant productions such as Deli Yürek, and Ekmek Teknesi contributed a lot in his career. Highlighting that Director Osman Sınav’s disciplined way affected him greatly when he had the chance to work with him, Yenilmez talked about his experiences in his journey.
Emphasizing that art is not limited to stage, Yenilmez stated that he was inspired by Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s intellectual world and literary heritage and added that art has a strong connection with national values. Considering bringing theatre to all parts of society as his responsibility, Yenilmez stated that he tries to perform free plays in line with this understanding to provide a chance for all to have art in their lives.
Noting the role of art in one’s life and society, Yenilmez stated that theatre is not just a form of art on stage, but a medium of communication that refreshes social memory, shares values, and raises awareness. Explaining the place of art in one’s life with examples, Yenilmez shared his personal experiences and created joyful moments for the audience.
At the end of the program, Ahmet Yenilmez expressed his thanks to BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer for this meaningful program which brought science with art and his kind invitation. He also thanked Demirpark Mall management who contributed to the program.
